Hey Everyone!
So we’ve finally finalized details for our first movie night! It will be this Friday, October 15th (starting at 6pm) at Azrieli Pavilion 132 (please note, this is NOT Azrieli Theatre!!). We will be showing two selections, to be decided by YOU!! Please check out our Facebook event page for more details. Please remember to bring your CUJA cards!!

Also wanted to let you all know of some great movie events happening this month! The Ottawa International Animation Festival will be going on between October 20th and 24th, with many Japanese films participating this year including the latest One Piece movie, Strong World! There will also be a special lecture taking place by Chris Robinson, the festival’s Artistic Director, on October 14th (7pm) at the Embassy of Japan regarding the history of independent Japanese animation.
And the School of Linguistics and Language Studies of Carleton University (home of the beloved JAPA courses) is holding a Modern Language Film Festival for Fall, the last Thursday of every month This month the selection will be おくりびと (Departures) , a 2009 Oscar Award winner!! The date will be October 28th (7:30pm), with a location to be decided.
These are some great opportunities to get a glimpse into different facets of Japanese culture, and to expose yourself to some Japanese language while you’re at it!! Not to be miss!
